United Hope qualified the UAE as a partner in a venture with the US State Department's program MEPI, the Middle East Partnership Initiative. We received a grant to run an awareness campaign against human trafficking. We are launching an anti-human trafficking initiative that will offer university students human rights/trafficking training and then give them the opportunity to apply their training in outreach to the public. The initiative will be carried out in association with Dubai-based Blue Feather Pictures, (www.bluefeatherpics.com) which will produce a documentary film regarding the subject.
Students will assist Blue Feather Pictures during production of the documentary film about human trafficking. The film will be shown at schools, universities, and educational institutions as an educational tool and will also be used as a basis for training NGO volunteers, the police, and other social workers. The film will ultimately be used to create recognition of human trafficking issues in the region through local and international broadcasting and through submission and screening at film festivals in the region. We will also be conducting workshops, awareness events and lectures on the subject of trafficking.
